What payment options do you accept?
A major credit card is required for all vehicle rentals.
For your security and ours, the name on the credit card must match the name of the person picking up the vehicle and signing the rental contract.
Please note that we do not accept prepaid cards, personal debit cards, Venmo, Cash App, or Chime cards.
How do I make a reservation with Kuehn Rental?
Reserving a vehicle with us is simple. Start by viewing our pricing and availability or contact us by calling our Rochester location at (507) 536-9800 or our Austin location at (507) 433-4847. You can also visit us directly as a walk-up client. We maintain a diverse fleet of high-quality cars, vans, trucks, and trailers, and we will promptly accommodate your request based on our available inventory.
What is the process for picking up my vehicle?
To streamline your vehicle pickup, please bring the following three items:
- A valid driver’s license
- Proof of personal auto insurance
- A major credit card
Once we have this information, our team will review the rental contract with you, answer any questions, and hand over the keys.
What is the age limit to rent a vehicle?
To comply with our strict insurance regulations and maintain the highest standards of safety, all renters must be at least 23 years of age.
Is a deposit required before renting?
Yes, a standard deposit of $50 is required. This amount will be authorized on your major credit card when you sign the contract and pick up your vehicle.
When will I get my deposit back?
For standard rentals, cancellations require at least 48 hours’ notice before your scheduled pickup time to receive a full deposit refund. If you cancel within 48 hours of your rental pickup time, your deposit will not be refunded.
During our peak rental season, June through August, deposits are non-refundable if the vehicle reservation is cancelled.
Additionally, deposits for 15-passenger van rentals are non-refundable, regardless of how early the reservation is cancelled.

Do you offer additional insurance coverage?
While the state of Minnesota requires you to carry personal auto insurance, we do offer an optional Collision Damage Waiver (CDW). This waiver is not classified as traditional insurance; rather, it is a premium protection option that prevents you from having to file a claim with your personal insurance provider in the event of vehicle damage.
Can I extend my rental period after picking up the vehicle?
Absolutely. We understand that personal schedules and commercial project timelines can change. If you need to keep your vehicle longer than anticipated, simply give us a call. As long as we can authorize the additional amount on your credit card on file, you may extend your rental for as long as necessary.
How does the return process work?
Returning your vehicle is easy. During standard business hours, you can bring the vehicle back and hand the keys directly to our staff. If you need to return the vehicle outside of our operating hours, just use the secure key drop boxes located at one of our locations (in Rochester or Austin).
Can someone else drive the rental?
Yes, we do allow additional drivers. Additional drivers must be at least 21 years of age.
What is a rental period?
Our standard rentals are based on 24-hour rental periods.
- A day is a 24-hour period.
- A week is a 7-day period.
- A month is a 30-day period.
Can I drop the vehicle off after hours?
Yes, we offer a key drop box for 24-hour returns at both our Rochester and Austin locations.
Do you allow one-way rentals?
We do not offer one-way rentals.
In some cases, you may be able to pick up your rental at one of our locations and return it to the other, but this must be discussed and approved before your rental period begins.
Can I drive the car out of state?
Yes, you may drive your rental vehicle out of state, but it must remain within the United States.
Exceptions may be made for trips to Canada, but this must be discussed and approved before your rental period begins. Additional documentation will also be required.
Do your rentals have milage limits?
Our vehicles include a set number of miles with each rental. The number of included miles varies depending on the vehicle you rent and will be shown when placing your reservation.
We do not pre-sell miles. If you exceed the included mileage, additional mileage charges will be applied after the vehicle is returned at the rate specified in your rental agreement.
Can I cancel or change my reservation?
Cancellations require at least 48 hours’ advance notice. If you cancel at least 48 hours before your scheduled pickup time, your deposit will be refunded unless your rental takes place during peak season.

Do you provide wheelchair accessible rentals?

Do you have any vehicles that are DOT-certified?
We offer both 10-passenger vans and minivans that are DOT-certified.
